Chapter 1 of 5

Create the community

Each community belongs to a product, such as a membership or a course. Whoever buys that product joins it on their own, without you signing them up. Whoever loses access to the product also loses access to the community.

Choose the product

The community can belong to a membership, a course, a private podcast or a digital product. Each product accepts a single community. If you sell a membership, put it there. That way the community is part of what is paid each month.

Create the community

  1. 1. Open Communities in the side menu, in the Sell group.
  2. 2. Click New community.
  3. 3. Choose the Product it belongs to.
  4. 4. Type the Name and, if you want, the description.
  5. 5. Click Create community.

Prepare it before opening

An empty community does not invite writing. Before announcing it, publish three things. A welcome message saying what it is for and what they will find. Your house rules. A first question that is easy to answer, such as where everyone is from or what they want to achieve.

Pin the welcome and the rules at the top of the feed so whoever arrives reads them. The next chapter explains it.

Write your rules

Short rules avoid most problems. Explain which topics have a place in the community and how you expect your members to treat each other. Name what you do not accept, such as advertising other products. Also say what happens if someone breaks them. That way you have something clear to point to when you have to moderate.

See it as a member

Click See in the area to see the community as your members see it. Check that the name, the description and the channels are understood without explanation.

The members you already have

If the product already has buyers, those with active access see the community as soon as you create it. Write to them with a broadcast to tell them it exists and what they can do in it. Create your community explains it.

What you have now

Your community exists and is tied to your product. In the next chapter you order it into channels and start posting.
