Chapter 4 of 4
Cancellations and payment recovery
Every subscription loses people every month. Some leave because they want to. Others leave without meaning to, because their card fails without them noticing. The first group shrinks with good content. OnBio recovers almost all of the second if you turn on the recovery flow.
How a subscriber cancels
Your subscribers cancel from their member area or with the management link in their emails, without signing in. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the period they already paid, so they keep access until that date. They can also pause the subscription and resume it whenever they want. While it is paused, OnBio charges nothing and the subscriber cannot enter the content.
When a charge fails
OnBio retries the charge for 7 days and notifies the buyer with a link to change the card, valid for 14 days. When the new card is saved, what is pending is charged. If it is not recovered in those 7 days, the subscription is cancelled and access ends.
Turn on payment recovery
The Payment recovery flow sends the buyer two more emails, which stop as soon as they pay. It comes set up with sample texts and starts turned off so you review them.
- 1. Open Email in the side menu and click the Flows tab.
- 2. Find Payment recovery and click Edit to review its two emails.
- 3. Click Activate.
If you have WhatsApp connected, the buyer who accepted it also gets the failed charge notice through that channel. Recover failed charges explains it.
See your cancellations
In Analytics, the Subscriptions tab compares the period's sign-ups and cancellations with your monthly recurring revenue. If cancellations rise, look at which month of their life your subscribers leave and strengthen that moment with new content.
