Chapter 4 of 6

Broadcasts

A broadcast is a one-off email, such as the launch of a course or a piece of news. You can send it to all your subscribers or only to a segment you choose with tags. Each broadcast goes out with your name as sender, a footer with your details and the unsubscribe link.

Prepare the content

  1. 1. Click Email in the side menu and click New broadcast.
  2. 2. Type the Internal name, the Subject and the Preview text.
  3. 3. Build the content with Add block.
  4. 4. Click Save draft.

Only you see the internal name. The preview text appears next to the subject in some email readers. In a text block, the person and store buttons write the contact's name and your business's.

Choose who it reaches

  1. 1. Click Next: recipients to move on to the audience and the send date of the broadcast.
  2. 2. Under Who it reaches, choose All subscribers or A segment.
  3. 3. In a segment, click a tag once to include it and again to leave it out.

The recipient count already leaves out unsubscribes, bounces and complaints.

Test and schedule it

  1. 1. Click Send me a test and check it in your inbox, on your phone too.
  2. 2. Click Send now, or choose the Date and the Time and click Schedule broadcast.

You can schedule it between 5 minutes and 90 days ahead, in Madrid time. You can cancel it until it starts going out. Gmail cuts emails over 102 KB and the preview warns you if yours weighs more.

See the results

Open the broadcast in the list to see the delivered, unique opens, unique clicks, unsubscribes and bounces. Sales coming from a link in the email are attributed to the broadcast. Some readers open emails on their own, so trust clicks more than opens.

Reuse it

Click Duplicate on a broadcast that worked to use it as the base for the next one. Send an email to a segment explains it.

What you have now

Your first broadcast is scheduled. In the next chapter you turn on the emails that go out on their own.
