The VAT of each sale
On this page
The price you set on a product already includes taxes and never changes at checkout. OnBio works out which tax each sale carries, separates it from the price and puts it on the invoice. The tax depends on what you sell and on where you and your buyer are.
Before you start
- Complete your tax details, because your address and your activity decide the VAT and the withholding of your self-billed invoice.
Review the tax of a sale
Each sale keeps the tax it was charged with. The order breaks it down next to the OnBio commission and what you keep.
- 1. Open Sales in the side menu.
- 2. Select the sale.
- 3. Review the Taxable base, the tax, the OnBio commission and the Net for you.
What happens next
OnBio keeps the tax of each sale when charging it. If the rates, your tax profile or the product change later, sales already charged do not change. Their renewals and later instalments are calculated with the rates in force on the date of each charge.
Keep in mind
- Courses, downloads, memberships, bundles and live events are sold by OnBio as the legal seller. They carry the VAT of the buyer's country in the European Union, which OnBio declares in the one-stop shop. In the Canary Islands they carry IGIC and in Ceuta and Melilla IPSI. Outside the Union they carry no tax.
- E-books carry the reduced rate of each territory, 4% on the mainland and the Balearic Islands.
- Sessions, session packs and custom services are also sold by OnBio. Because you deliver them in person or by video call, they carry Spanish VAT at 21% wherever the private buyer is. Sessions, services and VAT explains it.
- A company from another Union country with a VAT number valid in VIES buys without tax, with the reverse charge. A company or a self-employed person from Spain who gives their tax ID receives a full invoice with VAT.
- The buyer's country is decided with at least two matching pieces of evidence, such as the country they declare, that of their connection and that of their payment method. If they do not match, the checkout asks them to correct it before paying.
Frequently asked questions
How much reaches me from a sale?
Taxes and the OnBio commission of your plan are taken off each sale. The rest goes to your balance and appears as Net for you in the order of the sale. Your balance explains it.
Do I have to declare the VAT of my sales myself?
No. OnBio is the legal seller of all your products and declares their tax. You invoice OnBio for your services with the self-billed invoice of each month, which is the one that goes into your returns. Check it with your accountant for your quarterly returns.
