Chapter 3 of 6
Order bumps and follow-up offers
The easiest way to sell more is to offer something to whoever is already buying. An order bump is an extra the buyer adds at checkout with one click, such as the recipe book next to the course. A follow-up offer is shown on the thank-you page, when the purchase is already done. Both are charged with the same card, without the buyer typing it again.
Add an order bump
Each offer carries up to three extras. Each extra is a one-time payment offer of another product of your business.
- 1. Open the main offer with Edit from Offers, in Settings.
- 2. Under Order bumps, click Add order bump.
- 3. Choose the Offer of the extra.
- 4. Type the Headline, the Description and the Price of the extra in euros.
- 5. Click Save offer.
At checkout, extras appear under Add to your purchase, always unticked. The buyer decides whether to add them.
Add a follow-up offer
- 1. In the same offer, scroll down to Follow-up offer.
- 2. Choose the Offer you want to show after the purchase.
- 3. Type the Headline, the Description and the Price in euros.
- 4. Click Save offer.
After paying, the thank-you page shows the offer with a button saying its amount, such as “Add for €7.00”. If they do not want it, they click No, thanks and go on to their purchase with no new charge.
What to offer
A good extra is cheap and completes what is bought: templates for a course, a review session for a programme. A good follow-up offer is the natural next step. Do not offer something the buyer already has or something unrelated to their purchase.
Only with a click
The follow-up offer is only charged if the buyer clicks its button. Closing the page, going back or letting time pass never charges it. If the bank asks for authentication, the buyer confirms it on the same page. The follow-up offer appears in Sales as an order of its own. Order bumps and follow-up offers explains it.
What you have now
Your checkout offers an extra and an offer after payment. In the next chapter you build a funnel for a campaign.
