Chapter 2 of 4
Chapter 2 of 4
Build the first one from a template
A template brings the trigger, the waits and the emails written for a specific moment. Starting from it saves the slowest part, which is thinking up the sequence. The time you gain goes into making the texts sound like you.
Create the automation
- 1. Click Email in the side menu and open Automations.
- 2. Click New automation.
- 3. Choose the template of the moment you decided on in the previous chapter. Each one shows what triggers it and how many steps it has.
- 4. Click Use template. The builder opens with the automation as a draft.
If you prefer to start with no steps, click Start from scratch. From the head of the builder you give it the name you want.
Read the column
The builder draws the automation as a column. At the top is the trigger and below it each step in the order a contact goes through it. A wait shows how long it lasts and an email shows its subject. Between two steps the plus sign appears to add another at that point.
Click any card to open its settings, which on a computer appear on the right and on a phone as a sheet that rises from the bottom.
Adjust the trigger
Click the card of the trigger. In Products you limit the automation to the products you care about, or leave Any. If you want someone to be able to repeat the journey each time the trigger happens, turn on Can enter again.
Write your emails
- 1. Click the card of an email.
- 2. Change the Subject and the Preview text so they sound like you.
- 3. Click Edit with blocks to change the content with the same editor as broadcasts.
- 4. Click Done when you finish.
Every change is saved on its own as a draft. If you make a mistake, Undo takes the draft back to the moment before the last change.
Add or remove steps
With the plus sign you choose between waiting, deciding or acting. Actions send an email, add or remove a tag, grant access to a product, enroll in a course, send a service WhatsApp, call a webhook or notify your team. To remove a step, open it and click Remove this step.
What you have now
Your first automation is built as a draft. In the next chapter you personalise it with conditions.
