Verify your identity and open the payout account

Reviewed on 4 October 2026

The payout account is the second step of onboarding. You open it with Stripe, the company that processes OnBio's payments, which verifies your identity and that the bank account is in your name or your company's. OnBio does not keep your document or your IBAN, because Stripe keeps them.

Before you start

  • Complete your tax details, which Stripe needs to open the account.
  • Have your identity document at hand, both sides.
  • Have the IBAN of a bank account in your name or your company's.
  • Check that you are the owner or have the administration role.

Open the account

Open Onboarding in the side menu and select Payout account, the second step, which opens once your tax details are saved.

  1. 1. Select Set up payouts.
  2. 2. Fill in your personal details in the Stripe form.
  3. 3. Upload your identity document when Stripe asks for it.
  4. 4. Write the IBAN of your bank account.
  5. 5. Accept the Stripe terms and finish the form.

Complete what Stripe asks for

Sometimes Stripe asks for one more detail, such as a proof of address. It appears in What Stripe asks for with its deadline.

  1. 1. Review each pending detail and its date.
  2. 2. Select Complete with Stripe.
  3. 3. Send what the form asks for.

What happens next

The account moves to Being verified while Stripe checks your details and then to Active. If Stripe needs anything else, we let you know by email. With the account active, your balance can go out to your bank and onboarding moves on to the tax authorisations.

Keep in mind

  • If you close the form halfway, your details stay at Stripe. Go back to Set up payouts to carry on where you left off.
  • The holder of the bank account has to match your name or your company name. If it does not match, payouts stop until you fix it at Stripe.
  • If you do not complete what Stripe asks for before the date, Stripe can stop charges or transfers.
  • To change the bank account later, follow Change the bank account.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Stripe ask for my identity document?

Anti-money laundering rules require whoever processes payments to know who they pay. Stripe verifies your identity once and keeps the document. OnBio only receives the result of the verification and the last four digits of your account.
