Sell a digital download

A digital download is a file your buyer receives when paying, such as a PDF, a template, an e-book or an audio file. You upload the files, set a price and OnBio takes care of the charge, the invoice and the delivery in the buyer's member area. OnBio sells it as the legal seller, with the VAT of the buyer's country.

Before you start

  • Have the files ready. Up to 5 GB fit per product.
  • Complete onboarding to be able to sell. You can prepare the product in the meantime.

Create the product

Open Products in the side menu. Any new product starts there, created as a draft until you publish it.

  1. 1. Select New product.
  2. 2. Choose Digital download.
  3. 3. Type the Name and the Price. Then select Create product.

Upload the files

  1. 1. Open the Content tab.
  2. 2. Drag the files to Files or choose them from your computer.
  3. 3. Wait for them to finish uploading and being checked.
  4. 4. Tick It is an e-book if it is a book in PDF or EPUB.

Set the price and publish

  1. 1. Check the price in Product. For installments or coupons, open Settings and then Offers.
  2. 2. Prepare the Sales page with the description and an image.
  3. 3. Select Publish.

What happens next

The product appears in your store. Whoever buys it receives access by email and downloads the files from their member area whenever they want.

Keep in mind

  • Each PDF is delivered with a mark in the footer of every page with the buyer's email and the order number. It discourages sharing the copy without preventing reading it.
  • An e-book in PDF or EPUB carries the super-reduced VAT of 4% instead of 21%.
  • If the upload stops, select Retry and it continues from the last part uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Can I give the download away in exchange for the email?

Yes, with a lead magnet instead of a paid download. Whoever leaves their email receives the files and joins your contacts. Offer a free lead magnet explains it.
