Automations
On this page
Here are the automations of your business. Each one starts when something happens, like a purchase, a captured lead or an abandoned cart, and follows its steps on its own: waits, conditions and actions like sending an email, adding a tag or granting access to a product.
How to get there
Click Email in the side menu and open the Automations tab. The list shows each automation with its trigger, its steps, the contacts in progress and its status.
What you can do
- Filter by Active, Paused or Drafts.
- Create one with New automation, from one of the ten templates or with Start from scratch.
- Open one to change its steps.
- Pause, resume or archive one from the menu of its row.
Step by step
Create an automation from a template
- 1. Click New automation.
- 2. Pick the template that fits what you want. Each one shows what triggers it and how many steps it has.
- 3. Click Use template. The builder opens with the steps and texts ready for you to review.
Pause or resume an automation
- 1. Open the menu of its row.
- 2. Click Pause, or Resume if it was already paused.
Pick a template
New automation opens the ten templates in two columns. Each one shows what it does, what triggers it and how many steps it has. The purchase, access, payment and reminder templates send service emails. The others send marketing emails.
- 1. Click the template you want.
- 2. Click Use template, or Start from scratch to create one with no steps.
- 3. The builder opens with the name of the template. The automation stays a draft until you publish it.
What happens next
An active automation enrolls each contact the moment its trigger happens. While paused it enrolls nobody, and the contacts already inside wait on their step until you resume it.
Keep in mind
- Your earlier email flows are already here as automations, with the same texts and waits. They carry the note “Migrated from your flows”, and the contacts that were inside stay on the equivalent step.
- A draft shows how many problems it still has to fix before it goes live.
- When you archive one, the contacts inside leave without getting more steps and the automation leaves the list.
These roles can open this screen: owner, admin and content editor.
Frequently asked questions
Who gets the emails of an automation?
Marketing emails only reach those who accepted your emails. Service emails, like those of a purchase, an access or a failed payment, reach everyone who enters the automation.
