Connect your own domain
On this page
With your own domain your store opens on an address of yours, such as shop.yourdomain.com, with HTTPS and with Apple Pay and Google Pay at payment. Connecting it means creating a record in the panel of your domain provider. The store keeps working on onbio.es in the meantime and afterwards.
Before you start
- Publish your store, because a domain only connects to a published store.
- Have access to the panel of your domain provider, where the DNS records are created.
- Choose a subdomain, such as shop.yourdomain.com. The root domain does not accept the record that is needed.
- Check that you are the owner or have the administration role.
Ask for the record
Open Store in the side menu and select the Domain tab, which shows the status of the domain once you ask for it.
- 1. Select Connect domain.
- 2. Write the Domain.
- 3. Copy the Type, the Name and the Value of the record the screen shows.
Create the record at your provider
- 1. Open the DNS zone of your domain at your provider.
- 2. Create a record with the Type, the Name and the Value you copied.
- 3. Go back to Domain and select Check now.
What happens next
The domain goes through Waiting for DNS and Issuing certificate to Active. You receive the email «Your domain … is now active» and your store opens on it with HTTPS. Whoever enters through onbio.es reaches the same store.
Keep in mind
- The record takes between a few minutes and 24 hours to propagate. OnBio keeps checking it for 72 hours.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay appear on your domain when their registration ends, which you follow in Wallet payments. Card payment and Bizum work from the first moment.
- Do not delete the record while you use the domain. If it stops pointing to OnBio, the store is served only on onbio.es again.
- If something fails, check My own domain does not work.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my domain without the subdomain?
Not directly, because the root domain does not accept the CNAME record OnBio needs. Use a subdomain, such as shop.yourdomain.com. For yourdomain.com to take people to your store, create at your provider a redirect from yourdomain.com to that subdomain.
